A busy first fall weekend for Sussex County Events — Stillwater is hosting its Harvest Festival, The Sterling HIll Mines has its gem show and Peter’s Valley is hosting a Craft Fair at the Fairgrounds. The History Alliance of Sussex County has meeting on Tuesday, September 30th.

NEWTON – Has your historical society wondered how to attract new members while keeping your current members?
Ed Brannon will be addressing this pressing issue and suggest various strategies that can be effectively used to stabilize and expand your membership base. One such
strategy is to involve various generations and people with diverse skills in history, preservation and organizations.
The talk will be given at the Ludlum-Mabee House, located on Route 15 in Lafayette. The Ludlum-Mabee House is the former Lafayette Township Municipal Building, and now is the home of the Lafayette Center Preservation Foundation. The presentation will begin at 7:00 PM.
Ed Fritsch, the president of the Sussex County History Alliance, noted that Ed Brannon is currently involved with the Historic Preservation Trust of Pike County (PA.) and is
working on a project that will preserve a historic home while allowing the development of a new court house building to move forward. Brannon lives in Milford, Pa. with his wife.
Brannon is the former Executive Director of Grey Towers, which is located in Milford. As director, he led the planning, design and completion of the restoration and
rehabilitation of the Pinchot Estate complex, which is known as Grey Towers. This $18,000,000 project spanned ten years and was widely recognized as one of the finest examples of adaptive reuse in the nation.
