Events June 14-15th

Several event and openings will occur this weekend,  Newton Day,  Lusscroft  Farms Barn Sale Donation Day,  Friar Mountain Model Train Museums Thomas the Tank Engine Display and Grey Towers , Lace Making  Demonstration

Newton Day  June 14, 2014

Spring Street, Newton, NJ

The Town of Newton is celebrating its 150th legislature in 1864, the Township of Newton was divided so as to create the Town of Newton and the Townships of Hampton and Andover. At that time, Andover Township also included all of present-day  Andover Borough.

This year, the main celebration festivities for the 150th 14th , as a part of the traditional Newton Day activities, which is hosted annually by the Greater NewtonChamber of Commerce. The main activities will take place on Spring Street between 11:00 AM and 4:30PM, and then move down to Memory Park for the evening program to run until 9:30 PM.

Directly across Main Street from the classic car display, the Sussex County Historical Society will be open to visitors from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Society’s museum is located at 82 Main Street, at the corner of Main and Church Streets.

At 4:30 PM, the activities of the day will be shift from Spring Street down to Memory Park. There, an antique car exhibit will be available to spectators, and a baseball game will take place between the firemen of Newton and Andover Township. There will be more presentations made by the Town Criers about the history of the community. The will also be two bands providing music and many activities for children at that time as well.

The evening will be capped off with an enormous fireworks display. The pyrotechnic display will begin after sunset, around 9:00 PM.

 

Lusscroft Farm  Barn Sale Donation Day

Saturday June 14th 10:00-2:00

Items must be in sellable condition.  We are unable to accept upholstered items,stuffed animals, shoes, or clothes.

Volunteers to help clean up and prepare for the June Barn Sale welcomed!
