SUMMARY:Sussex County History Alliance Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Sussex County History Alliance will be on Tuesday\, May 30th at 7PM at the Hill Memorial Museum\, home of the Sussex County Historical Society.  As you all know the Hill Memorial Museum is celebrating its Centennial this year so Alex Everitt Jr.\, lifetime member of the SCHS will give a talk about the history of the museum.  It is also the 100th Anniversary of the Crescent Theatre in my home town of Sussex and if there is time\, I would be happy to speak about that.  There is a lot to celebrate this year.  Mostly though\, this upcoming meeting is about celebrating you and your organizations.  As we await the approach of Summer\, I am sure that your organizations have got a lot planned and we want you to share that information by talking about it and we want to make sure that we get the word out about it.  Please bring any handouts\, brochures\, flyers\, etc. of your upcoming events to the meeting so we can put them out at the museum and we can spread the word on social media.  There are a lot of visitors to the Hill Memorial Museum this anniversary year and we want to make sure that they all see your programs.   The biggest event of all to get your word out is the upcoming Sussex County Farm & Horse Show.  Let’s share our ideas of what we can do there to promote our organizations.  All in all this should be a great meeting so please make every effort to come.  All are welcome.  See you there.

SUMMARY:Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market
DESCRIPTION:It’s easy to see why the Lake Mohawk German Christmas Market in Sparta\, NJ continues to be ranked as “One of the Top Ten Things to Do in December in the State” – it’s simply at the top of the “to do” list for festive shoppers. This magical German Christmas Market beckons to all\, with beautifully crafted and unique gifts from vendors near and afar. With the perfect backdrop of beautiful Lake Mohawk…why go anywhere else? The authentic wooden huts generously created by a local artisan\, John Kweselait of Custom Wood Furniture\, have simply enhanced the enchanting festive atmosphere. In the 15 years since its humble beginning of raising funds for local charities and organizations\, it is now truly recognized as New Jersey’s largest Christmas Market\, attracting over 18\,000 to Lake Mohawk during the weekend. The German Christmas Market also continues to enjoy a special visitor – St. Nicholas\, himself\, and features a “new” fun activity for children this year -a pony ride and petting zoo – which is located at the main entrance of the Lake Mohawk Country Club in the circle drive.

SUMMARY:Sussex County History Alliance Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Sussex County History Alliance will be on Tuesday November 29th at 7PM at the Sussex Firehouse\, 25 Loomis Avenue\, Sussex Borough. There is ample parking on-site to the side and rear of the building.  At this meeting we will focus on the 2017 Sussex County Farm and Horse Show (NJ State Fair).  We are going to get an early start to planning what each of our organizations will do as far as presentations\, demonstration\, exhibits\, etc.  This time our historical organizations appearances will be promoted by the Fair on their website and in print.  We want to really show off our organizations to all of the many visitors of the Fair so that they will want to visit your museums and possibly become members.  To explain all of this to us will be Joe Biuso\, the Sussex County Director of Facilities Management and Wayne McCabe\, the Sussex County Historian and President of the Sussex County Historical Society.  We have got some really exciting ideas and we think you are going to like them.  We want to nail down timeslots and what you will be presenting\, etc. as soon as possible. We will be looking for full participation from all of our members.  We want to promote “Histourism” in Sussex County.  We will also be live streaming this meeting on the History Alliance Facebook page.  Another reminder will be sent closer to the meeting.  Please plan on being at this very important meeting.  All are welcome!
